Excellence Café

Restaurant & Café · Hargeisa
All-day dining, fresh coffee and a daily lunch buffet in the heart of Hargeisa.
Excellence Café sits in the Jig-Jiga Yar quarter of Hargeisa, opposite Qaalib Business Center — an all-day restaurant and café that runs breakfast, a midday lunch buffet and dinner from one kitchen, every day from 7 AM to midnight. The menu is broad by design: Lebanese, Mediterranean, Turkish and Arabic cooking beside Somali plates like camel suqaar with shuuro and geel haneed, all backed by a full coffee counter. There is an air-conditioned indoor hall for the buffet and a covered garden terrace for open-air dining, and tables can be reserved ahead by phone or WhatsApp.
Good to know
Excellence Café is built around one idea — a single Hargeisa address that covers the whole day. Mornings start with fresh coffee and pastries and a full breakfast menu, from çılbır Turkish eggs and shakshuka to Somali cambabur and loxoox; midday brings an affordable, self-serve lunch buffet; and the à la carte menu — pizza, pasta, grills, biryani, curries, mezze, salads and fish — runs through until midnight.
There are two ways to sit. Inside, an air-conditioned hall with a forest-mural wall holds the daily buffet on skirted linen tables with gold and steel chafing dishes. Outside, a covered garden terrace runs under a black pergola frame and laser-cut screens, with woven armchairs, string lights and a lawn beyond — room enough for a long table when a group books ahead. Service is quick and attentive, and plates come out on the café's own branded tableware.
Come for an early coffee, a working lunch off the buffet, or an evening table on the terrace with friends — and reserve ahead so it is ready when you arrive.

The covered garden terrace, the indoor buffet hall and the coffee counter — the space as it actually is, in the café's own photographs.

Out back, a pergola-framed terrace runs over patterned tiling — woven armchairs at long wooden tables, mashrabiya screens between the bays, string lights overhead and a lawn beyond. It is the seat to ask for on a warm evening.

Inside, an air-conditioned hall with a forest-mural wall holds the daily buffet on skirted linen tables — gold and steel chafing dishes, a floral centrepiece, staff in branded shirts keeping it stocked.

Espresso and macchiato, Turkish and Arabic coffee, and filter coffee by V60, Chemex or French press — plus teas, iced coffee, frappés and juices, brewed to order from the first morning cup on.

The buffet runs every day at a price set for an ordinary working lunch — a rotating self-serve spread of hot dishes, salads and mezze.

Book ahead and the terrace tables are pushed together into one long setting — birthdays, family gatherings and Iftar, with a private buffet built around the group's own choices.

Coffee and tea are carried out in the café's own glassware — a small thing done properly.

Cheesecakes, chocolate, red velvet, Black Forest and cookies — plated for the table or boxed to take away.
One kitchen covers a wide spread. Mediterranean and Levantine mezze — hummus, mutabbal, baba ghanoush, tabbouleh, fattoush — and charcoal grills like shish tawook, kufta and mixed grill sit beside pizza, pasta, burgers, saj wraps and sandwiches. Somali and Gulf plates run deep too: chicken and meat biryani, curries, suqaar with rice, geel haneed and goat haneed, and whole and filleted fish. Breakfast is its own long menu, and a cake counter of cheesecakes, chocolate, red velvet and Black Forest rotates through the day.
On the menu

One address that works from an early coffee to an evening table — and for the occasions in between.
